BIKE WEEK 2018

GET ON YOUR BIKE!!

BIKE WEEK takes place from 9th – 17th June 2018

We would love to see as many children, parents and staff cycling to school during Bike Week.

On Thursday 14th June Caroline Murphy (our Travel Officer) will be running a series of cycling workshops. These workshops are open to children from 1st Class – 6th Class. To take part in the workshops the children must bring their bike (in working order) and a cycling helmet to school. Only children who bring a bike and cycling helmet to school that day will be allowed to take part in the workshops. Sharing of helmets is not permitted.

Safety when cycling:

  • Make sure your bike is in working order
  • Always wear a helmet
  • Be Safe Be Seen- wear a Hi Vis Vest
  • Rules of the road apply to cyclists- become familiar with them
  • Absolutely NO CYCLING in school grounds- dismount from bike at school gate and walk your bike to the Cycle Rack.
  • Always secure your bike with a lock as NETNS cannot accept responsibility for stolen or damaged bikes.
  • If no space is available for your bike use the scooting parking which is located in the basketball court yard- ensure your bike is securely locked.

Please take a look at the following information display posters:

  • Fitting your Bicycle Helmet
  • Check your Saddle Height
  • M-Check
  • Keep your Bike in Good Condition

Once again we have been successful in our application for funding for a Bike Week Event. With thanks to Meath Local Sports Partnership we have been able to purchase 3 bikes for our Rainbow Rooms from Navan Cycle Centre. Caroline will also be carrying out mini workshops with the 12 children from the Rainbow Rooms on Thursday.

For further information on bike week events in the Meath area and information on bike safety and bike care have a look at  http://www.bikeweek.ie/

We will also be raising our 4th Green Flag on Thursday 14th June at 1:00pm.
